A New York City Fire Department medic was arrested and charged after he apparently strangled and raped a child.
Police have identified Frantz Petion, 25, as the medic who allegedly attacked on a 10-year-old girl in Queens Sunday morning while off-duty, the New York Daily News reported.
According to the report, Petion was a family friend who was in the home located on 202nd Street at the time of the suspected attack.
The child had been sleeping in the attic at the time he ‘grabbed her by the throat and raped her,’ the Daily News reported.
The child called police to report the alleged attack around 3:15am. Petion was arrested instantly after.
Petion has been charged with strangulation and child endangerment.
A new statement released by the medic’s mother, Sarah Petion, 55, suggests her son was ‘set up’ by a group of men.
The mother said her son had been partying with friends when he went upstairs at the home to use the restroom. That’s when he allegedly saw the sobbing child.
‘A whole bunch of guys came in and attacked him,’ his mother said in a statement, according to the Daily News.
‘He said he didn’t do anything to the girl… he looked at her and asked her if she’s all right. They didn’t want to hear nothing. They just attacked him.’
Further investigation is currently underway.
