Baking powder is now well known as an alternate cleaning agent. But it’s not just good for bringing your oven or your bath back to their sparkling best — your skin can also benefit from a little baking powder, as the following video shows:
#1. For sunburn
Put water and baking powder in a bowl and dunk a hand towel in the solution. Place the hand towel over the affected area to ease the pain.
#2. As a foot bath
Mix the baking powder together with some fine bath salts and add them to a shallow basin filled with water. Soak your tired and sore feet in the water for 15 minutes and they’ll soon feel much happier.
#3. For nail fungus
Mix baking powder and water together into a foaming paste and apply it directly to the affected areas. Let the paste do its work and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Repeat this process several times a day.
#4. Face scrub
Stir 2 tsp. baking powder and 1 tsp. facial cleanser into a paste and apply this face lotion with a gentle peeling effect once a week.
Baking powder is not just something for the grocery list, or the broom closet — it’s also proven itself as a handy cosmetic product. It’s truly versatile, and no household should be without it.
