22 YO Myanmar Man Arrested For Jumping From A Flight That Was About To Take Off
A 22-year-old man from Myanmar was arrested by the authorities for jumping from a flight that was preparing for a take-off. He reportedly did it after biting a attendant’s hand, the incident took place Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
The man identified as Tun Lon Sein, flew from Bangkok to Hong Kong, then entered the United States in New Jersey. On Thursday, Sein boarded the American Airlines flight 5242 from Charlotte to New Bern.
As flight was preparing for a take-off, he jumped from his seat and tried to open the main door, when the staff interrupted he bit off one of the flight attendants’ hand before leaping off into the tarmac.
He was held by the ground crew and then handed over to the security for interrogation. He spoke only Karin, a language spoken by a minority in Myanmar. Meanwhile, the flight had to return the gate for ‘re-screening’ before resuming its journey.
The suspect has been charged with “interference with flight crew members and attendants on a commercial aircraft” and is due to appear in court this week.
